The Pieta was one of my favorites from Rome (Jared & I spent just a day, too, back in 2005). I must have stared at it for 15 minutes! It was sobering to think of Jesus being held by his mother Mary after the crucifixion, but also sweet to think of the way a loving mother holds and gazes at her son.
